Tujuan dilakukannya PESMABA (Pengenalan Studi Mahasiswa Baru) UMM yaitu untuk mengenalkan mahasiswa baru dalam kehidupan kampus, khususnya yang berkaitan dengan studi dan hal-hal lain yang mendukung proses belajar-mengajar di Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang.
PESMABA ini wajib diiukuti oleh seluruh mahasiswa baru program Diploma dan Strata-1 UMM. Mahasiswa yang tidak ikut dan atau tidak lulus tidak akan memperoleh sertifikat, dan wajib mengukuti pada periode mendatang.
Pelaksanaan PESMABA dirancang selama 3 (tiga) hari dengan materi antara lain: pengenalan universitas, fakultas, jurusan, fungsionaris, akademik, kemahasiswaan, laboratorium, perpustakaan, dll.
PESMABA diawali dengan upacara pembukaan yang dilanjutkan kuliah umum di UMM Dome, serta diakhiri upacara penutupan yang juga dilanjutkan kuliah tamu. Lebih jelasnya, coba lihat di FAQ Mahasiswa Baru : PESMABA.
